President 2020 - 21/Advocacy
Joint Center for Housing Studies at Harvard
Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Joint Center for Housing Studies and a Ph.D. in Sociology. My work focuses on how racial inequality shapes hardship and privilege in declining American cities. One of my main goals this year is to make Postdocs feel more visible and valued members of the Harvard community.

EV Erik Van Vlack
President 2021-2022/Careers
Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB)
Pronouns: he/him/his or they/them/theirs

Erik was a postdoctoral fellow in the Kahne group, where his research focuses on the synthesis and assembly of cell wall components in bacteria. As co-president, I worked to help create an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared learning among the postdocs of Harvard, and to help ensure postdocs are prepared and connected for the next steps in their career.
Nicola Molinari Nicola Molinari
Careers/Advocacy 2020-2021
School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS)
Pronouns: he/him/his

As part of the FAS Postdoc Association, Nicola focused on the Advocacy and Careers Committees. Postdocs at Harvard should not only benefit from the diverse and rich research community provided by the vibrant environment we are part of, but be considered a cornerstone of the academic institution along with the students, staff and faculties, and this is the focus of my efforts in the Advocacy committee. Additionally, he loved to contribute to the Careers Committee as he deeply believe we, as a community, are not well aware of the career possibilities that could stem from both our domain knowledge expertise as well as the unique critical and analytical mindset we routinely apply to our work. In his research life, he am part of the Materials Intelligence Research group, where they focus on the development and application of machine learning-based methods to accelerate the discovery of new materials in areas such as energy storage.

Advocacy 2020 - 21
School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS)

I am a postdoctoral fellow in the John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. I am interested in smartly design synthetic soft materials inspired by biology. I am a member of the Advocacy Committee of the FAS Postdoc Association. I work on the annual postdoc survey and help organize other Postdoc Association events.  I am always looking for new ideas that can make the postdoc life at Harvard more enjoyable!

Events 2021 - 22
Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS)
Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am an SNSF early postdoc mobility fellow in the Friend/Madix and Aizenberg groups where I work on the design of nanostructured bimetallic catalysts for chemoselective hydrogenations towards sustainable production of pharmaceuticals and fine-chemicals. In the Events Committee, we aim to provide a networking platform to connect the FAS postdoc community both socially and professionally, and thereby enrich the postdoctoral experience.
Alina Guse
Social committee Chair (2022-23)
Molecular and Cellular Biology (MCB)
Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am a DFG postdoctoral fellow in the Cluzel Lab. My research focuses on the reorganization of regulatory networks and their impact on transcriptional dynamics in bacterial single cells during the adaptation in scarce long-term growth environments. In the Social Committee, we aim to provide a networking platform to connect the FAS postdoc community both socially and professionally, and thereby enrich the postdoctoral experience.
Daren Card Daren Card
Careers Chair (2022-23)
Organismic & Evolutionary Biology (OEB)
Pronouns: he/him/his

I am a postdoctoral fellow in the Edwards lab, where I study the genetic mechanisms underlying the repeated evolution of adaptive phenotypes in natural populations of vertebrates. As a member of the Careers Committee, my goal is to help my colleagues learn about the diverse career options available to early-career scientists and navigate the transition into a rewarding career.

Social Chair (2022-23)

Environmental Social Science
Pronouns: she/her/hers
I am an SNSF postdoctoral fellow at the Department of the History of Science. My research focuses on the determinants of trust in science, public perceptions of science, and the role of science in society and policymaking, specifically in the context of climate change. As a member of the Social Committee, I aim to bring the postdoc community together at events to make the (sometimes) stressful and insecure postdoc life more social, enjoyable, and fun!
Freja Chabert Oesterstroem
Social (2022-23)
Chemistry and Chemical Biology (CCB) and School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS)
Pronouns: she/her/hers

I am a Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellow in the Anderson Lab. My research focuses on stratospheric ozone chemistry, where I look at the impact of volcanic eruptions on the ozone layer using a 3D chemistry-climate-aerosol model as well as investigate some of the halogen-reactions central for ozone depletion. As part of the social committee I am part of organizing events to bring together the postdoc community, which includes events targeted at families for postdocs who are balancing research with having children.
