Childcare Scholarship for the HU Benefits-Eligible

Harvard University provides Childcare scholarships to HU benefits-eligible postdocs, as described here.

In addition, please note the following announcement, dated August 24, 2023, according to which for every X award allocated by the Work/Life Office, the FAS will provide an additional 2X.

Dear FAS Researchers and Non-Ladder Faculty,

I am delighted to share that, effective this academic year (2023-24), the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) will significantly supplement University childcare scholarship awards so that the total awards will be triple the current University levels for researchers and non-ladder faculty. This increase will be applied across the FAS academic divisions and the Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS). The additional support was approved by President Gay during her time as FAS Dean, and I am delighted to be able to implement this on her behalf. This increase in our childcare scholarship awards was informed by several months of careful consideration and analysis, and I am grateful to the Office for Faculty Affairs for their leadership of that process. As a parent, I know firsthand how important access to high-quality childcare is to one’s ability to fully engage in academic research and teaching. I hope that this investment will further strengthen our ability to attract and support the most promising early career researchers and instructors to our community.

If you have questions, please reach out to Stephen Kargère, Director of the Postdoctoral Office,
or the Assistant Dean for Faculty Affairs in your Division/SEAS.

Sincerely,
Hopi Hoekstra
Edgerley Family Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences
