This seminar will cover:

  • The various responsibilities needed to run a successful lab. These include managing and initiating collaborations, hiring, leading and training people, managing budgets, identifying funding, setting the culture of the lab, managing resources effectively and other topics. This seminar will discuss how to build these skills during your postdoctoral fellowship to help ensure success in a PI role.
  • Cultivating leadership skills during your postdoctoral program. Tangible examples will be provided on how to become involved with student clubs, academic groups, industry organizations, nonprofit organizations, and networking groups to build leadership, management, presentation, communication, networking, and interpersonal skills. Leadership ability is tremendously valuable as you build your career and is sought after by employers.
