What are the classroom norms in the United States and how might undergraduate education here differ from your own experiences? In this interactive workshop, we will explore teaching and learning across cultures by reflecting on culture and its impact on classroom interactions such as participating in discussions, presenting information, asking questions, building rapport, giving and receiving feedback, and even handling conflict. We will discuss how to foster an inclusive learning environment that recognizes and values cultural differences and brainstorm approaches to lead intercultural classrooms more effectively.

In order to get the most value from this workshop, please review the [*Teaching as an International Scholar*](https://canvas.harvard.edu/courses/68661/pages/teaching-as-an-international-scholar-%7C-overview?module_item_id=697787) module, where you will find additional food for thought.

Presenter: Sarah Emory, Assistant Director, International Teaching & Scholars, Derek Bok Center for Teaching and Learning
