Project management skills are highly regarded in professional organizations. Scientists utilize project management principles almost every day of their careers, in the careful planning and execution of experiments, and the anticipation and management of risk. In this module, you will learn the core principles of project management, how they relate to your own experiences, and how to further develop those skills to benefit your current research project and make you more competitive when you apply for jobs.

#### **Immediate Benefits**

- Better control of your research project
- More accurate assessment of how long your project will take
- Ability to negotiate with your PI to have clear common set of objectives
- Better ability to anticipate what could go wrong and how to best prepare for that

#### **Longer-Term Benefits**

- The ability to demonstrate your knowledge of project management using your own research as examples with accomplishments
- Demonstration that you recognize the important of meeting deadlines and working within budgets (which is very important to professional organizations)
- The ability to distinguish yourself from your competition when competing for jobs

Please note that the event is limited to 33 participants. So, only sign up if you can attend, and if you've signed up and can no longer attend, make sure to cancel your registration, so someone else can take your spot.
