Bette Phimister, Ph.D., serves as a Deputy Editor for the *New England Journal of Medicine* (NEJM). Prior to joining the *Journal*, she served as an assistant editor and then as the chief editor of the journal *Nature Genetics*. Much of her work has centered on the use of genetics and genomics in translational and clinical science.
