What do terms like diversity, equity, and inclusion mean in the context of the classroom? How might you develop an inclusive teaching practice? Equitable and inclusive teaching requires first identifying how social dynamics and systemic inequalities pose barriers to advancing student learning and well-being, and then developing practical strategies to address these dynamics in our classrooms and pedagogical approaches. In this interactive workshop, we'll start by surveying what we mean by inclusive teaching and considering common challenges to fostering equitable learning environments. Then, we'll review strategies to attend to these challenges while working through classroom scenarios to consider how you might develop your own inclusive teaching practice.

This workshop will be led by
Ashlie Sandoval, Ph.D., Assistant Director of Equity & Inclusion
Derek Bok Center for Teaching & Learning, Harvard University
